eEES 4150/5150 - Evolution/organic evolution

In Evolution, we cover the modern theory of evolution, presented within a framework of geology and biology.  One-half of the semester focuses on evolution from a biological perspective, while the second half of the course is dedicated to the presentation of evolution from the geologic perspective (taught by Dr. Mark Camp), in which we will focus on the vastness of geologic time, mechanics of geological dating, and the requirements of fossil preservation.  In my half of the semester, we elaborate on the genetic mechanisms that drive evolution and become familiar with the specialized conditions that facilitated diversification and eventual evolution of Earth’s organisms.

Course topics for the first half of the semester (see Dr. Camp for other topics)
