Seismograph Station UTO

I regret that I must inform you that our seismograph station UTO has been down since early in the 2001 - 2002 academic year.  The transducers were still in fine working order at that time.  The recording apparatus was purchased during the 1970s and several vital parts simply wore out.  The amplifier system developed a severe instability and the high-precision clock died of old age.

Due to budget cuts, our electrical technician was lost as budget cuts forced a hiring freeze, followed by the University "reabsorbing" the position.  There is no qualified person available to diagnose the electrical problems, a necessary prelude to making repairs.  My requests to various inhabitants of U. Hall to solve this problem have fallen upon deaf ears.

Used drums, anyone?
