What can you do?

To save energy, save money, and reduce your carbon footprint.

Most important point:

This is all about making small changes to your awareness and your daily behavior.

Make it a habit to consider the energy and resources consumed as a result of your decisions.

Suggestions made in class as examples:

Eat the loose grapes at the bottom of the bag first

Unplug  [all those black charger adapters for your cell phone etc.]

Power bar  [to turn off all electricity to your TV, computer, etc.]

Coast [up to stop lights]

[go easy on both the accelerator and brake when driving]

Walk the stairs  [instead of taking the elevator]

Open the door  [instead of pushing the handicapped-access door opener]

Change the margins [.com]

[reduce page margins to 0.75 inches, save as the default]

Re-use plasticware

Recycle ALL beverage containers … and paper

When washing your hands … or shaving

[only have the water on when you actually need it]

EnergyStar   [www.EnergyStar.gov]  [not .com]

Eat your veggies … and whole grains … and buy local

[only 10% of the food energy eaten by a cow becomes beef]
